Barnabus Arthur was the son of William A. Arthur and Ann Murray of Bedford County, Virginia. In 1755, Barnabus married Martha Talbot (b. 08/1740), daughter of Matthew Talbot and Jane Clayton. Martha was the aunt of another Matthew Talbot, who served as a Jeffersonian governor of Georgia in 1819 and is buried in Wilkes County, GA.
Barnabus and Martha had six children:
Barnabus died circa 1786. Martha and the five youngest children relinquished their share of his will to eldest son William, and may have moved to Wilkes County, GA.
