Felix "Pete" Arthur was born in 1822 in Franklin County, GA, to Lewis Felix Arthur and Keziah Jones. He married Mary "Polly" Lowery (b. 1834), daughter of Christopher and Matilda Lowery (Matilda's maiden name is unknown). Pete and Polly had seven children:
Before marrying Pete, Polly had been married to Andrew J. Baxter (b. ca. 1829). They had four children:
In 1850, Pete was living with his parents in the Fourth Civil District of Polk County, TN, helping his father farm. By 1860, Pete and Polly were living in the Fifth Civil District, near Benton.
Pete Arthur was a Confederate veteran. He was a private in Company B of the 29th Tennessee Infantry. According to records, Pete enlisted on July 26, 1861, at Camp Cumming, Knoxville, TN. On August 05, 1862, having reached his fortieth birthday, Pete was discharged on account of being overage.
Pete and Polly Arthur are buried at Sylco, Polk County, TN. Unfortunately, their graves are not marked.
