John Parker Moore

John Parker Moore was born circa 1765 in Halifax County, Virginia. His parentage is unknown, but his mother's maiden name was Parker. He and Millie Redmond (b. ca. 1769 in Charlotte County, VA; d. 184? in Macon County, NC), daughter of William Redmond, were married circa 1791 in Carter County, TN. The couple reared eight children:

  1. Taverner B., born July 13, 1793; married Catherine Davis; died before 1833, Rabun County, GA.
  2. Mary, born December 11, 1795; married Soloman Carrol.
  3. Sarah Ann, born January 20, 1798; married Zechariah Peek; died May 02, 1848, in Macon County, NC.
  4. Abner Senter, born July 20, 1801; married Ann Cook; died August 26, 1884.
  5. Rachel Redmond, born February 17, 1804; married Jesse Kirby; died in Coryell County, TX.
  6. Abraham, born December 27, 1806; married Lydia Stewart; died December 13, 1881, in Macon County, NC.
  7. Isaac C., born April 04, 1809; married Rachel Bryson.
  8. Jacob, born May 03, 1812; married Sarah Bryson; died before 1830.

Just after the turn of the nineteenth century, John and Millie moved from Carter County to old Buncombe County, NC. John's occupation is unknown, and census records list him as being illiterate.

John Parker Moore died around October of 1853. He and Millie are buried in the Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery, Macon County, NC.
