Lewis Felix Arthur

Lewis Felix Arthur was born circa 1798 in Franklin County, GA, to Matthew and Caty Arthur (Caty's maiden name is unknown). His paternal grandparents were Barnabus Arthur and Martha Talbot of Virginia. In 1811, Lewis married Keziah Jones (b. ca. 1802, d. 08/28/1889). The couple reared eight children:

  1. Joseph, born 09/02/1820; married Jane ___; died 01/14/1904, buried at Sylco Cemetery, Polk Co., TN.
  2. Felix "Pete", born 1822; married Mary "Polly" Lowery.
  3. Rebecca, born 1830.
  4. Charity, born 1832.
  5. Catherine, born 1835.
  6. Lewis, born 1837.
  7. Patsy
  8. Martha A., born 1849.

Lewis served in the War of 1812 (note he was only about fourteen at the time). He was an infantry private in the Third Regiment of Few's Georgia Militia, led by Colonel Ignatius A. Few.

Census records show that Lewis was a farmer. The family lived near Parksville in Polk County, TN, and owned land valued at one thousand dollars in 1850.

Lewis Arthur died November 23, 1872. He and Keziah are buried at Sylco Cemetery, Polk County, TN.
