William A. Arthur

William A. Arthur was a resident of Virginia. According to a deed, he bought 223 acres of land on Flat Creek in Campbell County, VA, in 1756. He was living in Bedford County at the time.

William married Ann Murray (d. ca. 1799), daughter of David Murray. The couple reared twelve children:

  1. Susanna
  2. Barnabus, married Martha Talbot; died ca. 1786.
  3. William, Junior, married Elizabeth Dalton.
  4. Ann, married Benjamin Arthur; died ca. 1781.
  5. Elizabeth, married Gross Scruggs; died 1807.
  6. Jane, married Henry Eidson.
  7. Sarah, born 1747; married Thomas Arthur; died 05/03/1828.
  8. Mary, married Field Robinson.
  9. Frances, married Boyce Eidson; died 1827.
  10. Jemima, married Peter Claywell.
  11. Tabitha, married Thomas Gooch, Jr.
  12. Mildred, born 06/13/1762; married James Baber; died 12/10/1846.

William died circa 1783 in Campbell County, VA.
